We are pleased to offer free Youth Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training for parents and carers who support young people with mental health problems, or who are living with mental illness themselves.
This two day course is funded for:
- Parents and carers of children aged 8–18 who currently access CAMHS
- Parents and carers of young people aged 16–18 who are transitioning from CAMHS to adult mental health services
- Parents and carers who themselves have a mental illness
What you will gain:
- Skills to identify the signs of mental health problems in young people aged 8–18
- Confidence to start conversations about mental health and provide initial support
- Practical tools for responding to crises, including suicide and self-harm situations
- Knowledge of professional support and how to guide young people to appropriate help
- Access to ongoing support through the MHFAider Support App and Online Learning Hub
- Membership in the Association of Mental Health First Aiders
